Welcome Alex McNeill to Leadership in MLP and the PCUSA!
It’s an exciting day—Alex McNeill’s first as Executive Director of More Light Presbyterians! Alex brings immense gifts and preparation to this call to inspire the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the world to embrace and proclaim in word and deed the Gospel of God’s love for all, especially for God’s LGBTQ children.
What truly delights me about Alex is how clearly he is a bred–in–the–bone Presbyterian, active in his family’s Presbyterian Church in western North Carolina all his life. His skill at sharing his faith and vocation is obvious in the fact that he has remained in the PCUSA ordination process in the Presbytery of Western North Carolina, through coming out first as lesbian and then as transgender.
It’s as if Alex’s experience since seminary was handpicked by God to prepare him for this job at More Light. He worked his way up to development director for the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, so he knows how to inspire people to join in its ministry through financial giving. His leadership in grassroots organizing for the PCUSA 10-A campaign, the Building an Inclusive Church program of IWR and the effort to pass the marriage law in Maryland will serve him well as he helps move the PCUSA toward an inclusive understanding of marriage and widespread welcome for LGBTQ people.
You can find out more about Alex here. I hope you’ll join me in giving your all to make sure Alex’s light shines as ED of MLP to the glory of God.
