The Glorious Spirit Unveiled
Text: 2 Corinthians 3:7-18
Reflection and Question: The central text for this Sunday in the church year is the story of Jesus being transfigured and the disciples seeing Him in glory (Lk 9:28-36, Mt 17:1-9, Mk 9:2-10). This passage from Paul is a stunning expansion of such glorification to include the ministry of believers inspired by the Holy Spirit. With no distinction between faithful Christians, Paul rejoices in our transformation “from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit.” That we can see and endure this glory in one another with unveiled face is awesome. How does the Spirit transform you in glory?
Prayer: Magnificent Spirit, we confess we share the fears of the disciples as they witnessed Jesus in His glory, and we yearn for a veil to shield our gaze. But we turn to You and there is the freedom and transformation which come from You. Thanks. Amen.
