So That We Might Live for the Praise of His Glory

This meditation is based on a passage for January 10, 2011 in the Daily Lectionary Year 1 from the Book of Common Worship for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (1993).

Text: Ephesians 1:1-14

Reflection and Question: What a beautiful expansion on the blessings Christ bestows on those who believe in Him! Hearing and believing are what mark the Christian “with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit.” Just like all other Christians in Ephesus so long ago and in the church around the corner, lesbian, gay bisexual and transgender (LGBT) faithful set their hope on Christ. No one has the right or ability to question this claim of LGBT believers whose lives prove their adoption as God’s children through Jesus Christ. With what spiritual blessing have you been blessed?

Prayer: Jesus, our Beloved, we set our hope on You and live for the praise of Your glory. As God’s adopted children, we ask that You keep us holy and blameless before the One You call Father. Gather us with all things into God, we pray. Amen.
