Rooted and Grounded in Love

This meditation is based on a passage for May 18, 2010 in the Daily Lectionary Year 2 from the Book of Common Worship for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (1993).

Text: Ephesians 3:14-21

Reflection and Question: A pastoral presence shines through this wonderful prayer that continues to be the prayer of the church in our day. The prayer’s heart is a petition on our behalf that Christ may dwell in our hearts by faith as we are being rooted and grounded in love. GLBT Christians testify to this prayer being answered for them, sharing that Christ does strengthen them in their inner beings with the power of the Holy Spirit. How does this prayer strengthen you?

Prayer:  Triune God of all, root and ground us in love so that we may have the power to comprehend the love of Christ that surpasses all knowledge. Fill us with Your fullness so that we may abundantly accomplish Your will in all we do today. Amen.
