Palm Sunday Revisited
Text: Luke 19: 28-40
Reflection and Question: All four Gospels include a version of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem on a donkey with the triumphant cries of the crowd accompanying Him. Only Luke tells of Jesus’ exchange with some of the Pharisees who suggest that He stop the blasphemous shouting. Because He has done miracles, we take Jesus seriously when He replies, “I tell you, if these were silent, the stones would shout out.” What cries in our time are such that, if they were silent, the stones would cry out?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, we believe You would have made the stones to praise You had the people been silent. Make us part of all praise and supplication that pleases You, where were we to be silent, You would make the stones to cry out. Amen
This meditation is based on the Daily Lectionary Year 1 from the Book of Common Worship for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (1993).
