God Made Manifest in Mount Zion

Text: Psalm 48

Reflection and Question: This faithful poetry draws in our minds a powerful impression of God by extolling the beauty and majesty of Mount Zion with both its stunning natural setting and the lovingly crafted manmade temple and palace. God’s strength as a refuge and sure defense for us and God’s just love become solid in this Psalm, inspiring our steadfast faith and joyful praise. Where do you see God made manifest in the world around you?

Prayer: We walk around Zion, go around her, number her towers, consider her ramparts, go through her citadels, so that we may tell the next generation that this is God. Our God forever and ever will be our Guide forever. Amen.

This meditation is based on the Daily Lectionary Year 1 from the Book of Common Worship for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (1993).
