Faith the Size of a Mustard Seed
Text: Matthew 17:14-21
Reflection and Question: The story picks up here after the disciples have tried to heal an epileptic child but failed in their efforts. When Jesus hears of this, He uncharacteristically throws up His hands and proceeds to heal the child. When the disciples ask why they failed, Jesus answers “Because of your little faith.” Jesus is clear that even a tiny bit of faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains. I have always felt this as such a burden because I know my faith cannot move mountains or heal the sick. What would you say is the size of your faith?
Prayer: Jesus, our pastor, we confess that we are of that perverse and faithless generation which so tests Your patience. Strengthen our faith so that it approaches the size of the mustard seed and we may effect Your will in our world. Amen.
