All Things Work Together For Good
This meditation is based on a passage for July 5, 2010 in the Daily Lectionary Year 2 from the Book of Common Worship for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (1993).
Text: Romans 8:26-30
Reflection and Question: This was a central passage for my Puritan ancestors who took so seriously the claim Paul makes here that God predestined those who are called. This can turn one’s life into a bleak, determined effort to be among the predestined or it can free the believer of worry about being made in the image of Christ. The latter arises from trusting Paul’s message here: that all things work together for those who love God. We all lie completely in God’s hands, which, certainly, is reassuring to the GLBT faithful. How does the Spirit help you in your weakness?
Prayer: Spirit of the living God, we give You thanks that You know the words for our prayers when we do not. Thank You that our vocation, our justification and our glorification are all in Your loving hands. We know all shall be well and are glad. Amen.
