A Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation
This meditation is based on a passage for November 25, 2010 in the Daily Lectionary Year 2 from the Book of Common Worship for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (1993).
Text: Ephesians 1:15-23
Reflection and Question: How fitting that such a lovely prayer of thanks is the lectionary text for this Thanksgiving of 2010. Here Paul gives thanks for the church community in Ephesus, and for the great power of God at work in Jesus Christ that enlightens hearts and calls forth hope. Christian witness through the ages since Paul has been a mixed bag, just like any human endeavor. In the times when we have been true to God in Christ, the church has acted and spoken with the spirit of wisdom and revelation, God has been glorified and life has prospered. When have you joined in Paul’s thanks?
Prayer: It’s in Christ that you found yourselves home free — signed, sealed and delivered by the Holy Spirit. That’s why, when I heard of the trust you have in the Master Jesus and your outpouring of love for all Christians, I couldn’t stop thanking God. Amen.
