The Lord is My Light and My Salvation; Whom Shall I Fear?

This meditation is based on a passage for March 24, 2010 in the Daily Lectionary Year 2 from the Book of Common Worship for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (1993).

Text: Psalm 27

Reflection and Question: This poem has been a consolation for people in trouble since far, far back into the mists of time. Through Bing and You Tube I found the version that strengthened me often during the three years of being investigated and charged with violating the rules of my church by presiding at the wedding of two women. I did wait on God and was acquitted in the end. My fears were for naught and God was gracious in caring for me. I found there are many musical settings of this psalm. Perhaps the one that succored me comforts you. What setting of Psalm 27 speaks to your heart?

Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud, be gracious to me and answer me!
Do not hide Your face from me. Amen.
