Saul Becomes Paul

Text: Acts: 9:1-19

Reflection and Question: God calls upon Ananias to welcome Saul into the followers of Jesus. And Ananias was right to be cautious because Saul deserved the reputation he had for persecuting Christians. But Ananias’ faith overcame his fears when the Lord assured him that Saul was to become Paul, a zealous preacher of the Gospel. Saul accepted what he was asked to do after hearing Jesus’ own voice on the road. What does Jesus demand of you and who is like Ananias for you, reaching out a hand to help you respond?

Prayer: Savior and Brother Jesus, when we, like Saul, are on the wrong path, stop us and turn us into Your sure way. Send to us someone faithful like Ananias, to comfort and guide us as we change in accordance with Your will. Amen.

This meditation is based on the Daily Lectionary Year 1 from the Book of Common Worship for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (1993).
