God’s Gift of Reconciliation

Text: 2 Corinthians 5:11-6:2

Reflection and Question: God’s reconciliation with us is held in two Biblical images: “Like a mother who will not forsake her nursing child, like an father who runs to welcome the prodigal home, God is faithful still (Brief Statement of Faith, The Book of Confessions).” And Paul encourages us to be reconciled with one another following this example. How have you reached out to be reconciled with another as God has reached out to us in Christ?

Prayer: Most loving God, help us to so receive Your reconciling embrace that we may go forth in the world, offering that same reconciling heart to all we meet. Amen

The Brief Statement of Faith (1983) is one of the historic documents that guide our faith in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

This meditation is based on the Daily Lectionary Year 1 from the Book of Common Worship for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (1993).
