Anyone Who Comes to Me I Will Never Drive Away

This meditation is based on a passage for April 6, 2011 in the Daily Lectionary Year 1 from the Book of Common Worship for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (1993).

Text: John 6:27-40

Reflection and Question: Jesus promises many things to His followers here. I know a multitude of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Christians, who tell me that they have come to Jesus. They have had their hunger and thirst assuaged by Him, and they fully trust Jesus’ promise of eternal life for all who see Him and believe in Him. Jesus will raise them up on the last day, so my place is to stand with them as another faithful follower of Christ. As I have done this, I have been inspired by their strength and blessed by the fruits of their faithfulness. What does it mean that Jesus is the bread of life?

Prayer: Mighty God, may your warning steer us to the way You have commanded us to walk. Open our eyes to false paths so that we may delight in You will and walk in Your ways, to the glory of Your Holy Name. Amen.
